Vitamin B10: instructions for use
Vitamin B10, or paraaminobenzoic acid( PABA, English abbreviation PABA ), is not a single-valued vitamin, it is only a derivative of the benzoic amino acid. However, due to the similarity of structure and importance to the body, it was attributed to the vitamins of group B and assigned regulation 10( BX).Sometimes it is also called the vitamin H1.
PABA in solid form represents crystals of white color, readily soluble in alcohols and oils. The compound is chemically stable, retains its structure when boiled in alkali and acid.
The human body enters with some products, as well as in an insignificant amount produced by intestinal microorganisms.
The main functions of the
PAD One of the important functions of vitamin B10 is participation in the production of melanin, the natural pigment of hair and human skin, therefore it is used in many cosmetic and restorative procedures:
-
is added to skin protection against sunburn and giving it a deep deep tan;
-
is used in the means and procedures for preventing premature aging;
-
when used in conjunction with inositol( B8), folic acid( B9) and pantothenic acid( B5) helps restore gray hair its natural color( if gray is a consequence of stress or lack of vitamins);
-
is used together with biotin, folic and pantothenic acid, and sometimes vitamin E to repair damaged hair.
Functions of vitamin B10 as amino acids
As amino acid PABA takes part in many metabolic processes and the synthesis of a number of organic compounds:
- acts as a stabilizer of growth of "friendly" bacteria in the human intestine, serves as a starting material for the production of folic acid by intestinal microflora;
-
takes part in the production of protein, erythrocytes, biogenic amines and interferon-specific protein, which increases the body's defenses against various infectious diseases;
-
is involved in the synthesis of constituents of nucleic bases of RNA and DNA-pyrimidine and purine;
-
normalizes the functioning of the thyroid gland, ensures the normal course of digestive processes, assists in the assimilation of fatty acids and proteins.
Food sources PABC
Contains vitamin B10 in foods of both plant and animal origin. Its sources are beer yeast, molasses( forage molasses), meat by-products( liver and kidneys of animals), wheat germ, seafood.
Other sources: bran, mushrooms, spinach, whole grains( eg brown rice and whole wheat), nuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin, egg yolk.
Other useful functions
In studies conducted in the mid-1990s, the PADA in the form of Potaba ( aminobenzoate potassium) was used to treat Peyronie's disease. After a complete examination, patients were given medium and large doses of the substance. The results were encouraging, but more research is needed to confirm them.
There are cases when women with problems with conception reported pregnancy after increasing the dose of PABA in their diet.
Vitamin B10 also improves mammary gland function, stimulating lactocyte synthesis in lactating women.
Early studies show that PABC can help in the treatment of vitiligo - loss of color or pigmentation of certain areas of the skin. Also, regular use of B10 prevents the accumulation of abnormal fibrotic cells.
Since the supplements containing large doses of PABA have been banned for over-the-counter sales due to the potential danger of overdose, studies devoted to this vitamin have not been carried out. However, in small doses it is allowed and can be found in most multivitamins of the B complex.
Signs and Causes of Deficiency
PABA deficiency occurs infrequently, since it is available in food and can be produced in the body by intestinal bacteria. However, a deficiency can occur with prolonged use of antibiotics, including sulfanilamide preparations, which affect intestinal bacteria, and with them also the production of PABC.On the other hand, vitamin B10 itself can reduce the effectiveness of sulfonamide antibiotics if taken simultaneously.
There are no specific signs of PABC deficiency, so it is difficult to diagnose it, but with its lack, the following symptoms are often observed:
- constipation and other chronic gastrointestinal diseases;
- nervousness;
- frequent headaches;
- about is a malaise;
- depressive states;
- irritability;
- wet or wet eczema;
- premature aging of the skin, the appearance of wrinkles;
- premature hair loss.
Symptoms of overdose and side effects of
Since in fact B10 is not a vitamin, for him such a concept as beriberi is not defined. There is no established upper dose for PABC, but megadoses are not recommended, since the excess of this substance is retained in the body.
High doses of PABA - from 8 grams per day - can cause a rash, nausea, vomiting, fever, and in some cases even vitiligo - spotted skin discoloration, in which small doses of PABC are used for treatment.
Severe overdose can lead to toxicosis and liver damage. When using more than 20 grams of PABC, deaths of young children are documented.
However, taking vitamin B10 at doses up to 400 mg in with ducks is considered safe and only in some cases gives side effects in the form of skin rashes and loss of appetite.
There are also side effects of PABA, which are the result of allergic reactions, not overdoses. Symptoms of allergy include coma, diarrhea, dizziness, fever, liver damage, nausea, skin rash, shortness of breath or slowed breathing, stupor, vomiting. These conditions require immediate medical attention.
Vitamin B10: instructions for use
Most often, this vitamin is not produced on its own, but in complexes of B vitamins or in multicomplexes. Thus, vitamin B10 in tablets "Aktival" is contained in an amount of 50 μg, in capsules of "Altimeit" - up to 20 μg PABK.
Now Foods PABA( USA) produces PABC as a dietary supplement in capsules, one capsule contains 500 μg of vitamin B10.
Topical application and injection
B10 is often used for topical application, eg in eye drops. So, vitamin B10 in ampoules "Aktipol" is effective in pronounced processes of degeneration of the cornea. Drop up to 8 times a day in both eyes.
There are also PABC solutions in injectable ampoules, but they are used only in specialized medical institutions. The injections are done by the doctor in certain areas of the eyes or by intramuscular injection, and for vitamin B10 in ampoules there is no instruction for use in free access.
Reviews
Almost all reviews of vitamin B10 are presented by consumers who took it as PABA, an American drug from Now Foods. All the reviews can be divided into two main types - about applying for skin problems and getting rid of early gray hair.
Taking PABA is started in cases of high skin sensitivity to UV rays, when even with slight sun exposure the skin gets severe burns. All consumers note the rapid effect, the convenience of taking the drug and the absence of any discomfort in the body during its use. There is also an improvement in the general condition of the skin, increased elasticity, reduced dryness and sensitivity. Good results are obtained using the drug in cases of problem skin and getting rid of acne.
In case of hair problems, all consumers also note a 100% result, especially in focal temporal gray hair. Quickly enough hair gets from a white dark gray color, and then the natural pigment of hair is restored. In addition, there is a general improvement in the condition of the scalp and hair growth.
The only drawback is only the long delivery times of the drug by dealers and distributors of Now Foods.
