Why use hawthorn tincture

Hawthorn tincture is a liquid of a reddish color. It is transparent, with a pleasant smell. It is stored in a vial of dark glass with a dense lid at room temperature.

The composition of hawthorn fruits include flavonoids, organic acids, vitamins, pectins, glycosides and tannins. Tincture of hawthorn relieves the excitation of the nervous system, helps a person fall asleep. This normalizes the work of the autonomic nervous system. It is especially useful to use a medicine for cardioneurosis and vegetative disorders in menopausal women.

Walls of blood vessels are relaxed, blood pressure is lowered, coronary arteries spasm is relieved, frequency of attacks of heart pain is reduced. All these factors allow using hawthorn tincture for heart diseases, for decreasing the dose of cardiac glycosides, for hypertension and heart rhythm disturbance.

But always it is worth remembering that antiarrhythmic drugs and tincture of hawthorn badly combine. Hawthorn has a calming effect in the occurrence of cardiac pain in autonomic disorders. With a small extrasystole, the tincture restores the rhythm of the heart, and for serious rhythm disturbances, such as atrial fibrillation, antiarrhythmic medication is required.

When an overdose of cardiac glycosides can improve the state of health by taking hawthorn tincture, which will soften their negative effect on the heart. Hawthorn is able to strengthen the heart muscle, calm the pulse, so it is used to prevent attacks of angina pectoris, hyperthyroidism and angioedema. In addition, hawthorn has a pronounced diuretic and choleretic effect on a person.

Biologically active hawthorn substances have a positive effect on fat metabolism, reduce cholesterol in the blood, prevent the formation of plaques on the walls of blood vessels and have antioxidant properties, prevent aging of the body.

Hawthorn tincture is prepared from fruits, flowers or hawthorn leaves. When preparing tinctures from flowers, plants take 1 tbsp.l of vegetable raw materials, pour a glass of vodka and insist a week in a dark place with a closed lid. Keep the tincture in a dark glass bottle, take 20-30 drops before eating for a month.

To obtain tinctures from fruits, take 100 g of dried hawthorn fruit, grind them in a mortar, pour a liter of alcohol and insist 20 days in the dark and cool. Ready tincture strain, pour into a clean vessel and take 25 drops three times a day before eating.

It should be remembered that, like any medicine, it has a tincture of hawthorn contraindications. Do not use it:

  • for children under 12;
  • to pregnant women in the first trimester;
  • nursing mothers;
  • for individual intolerance.

With great care, you need to apply tincture simultaneously with cardiac glycosides and antiarrhythmic drugs.

In medical practice, there were no cases of drug overdose. But if a large amount of tincture of hawthorn was used, the overdose came against the background of domestic alcohol abuse. In this condition, there are side effects: dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, bradycardia and hypotension. Allergic reactions to the skin may develop.

This widely known drug has been used since antiquity in the treatment of heart disease. It is prescribed for atherosclerosis and hypertension, with angina and arrhythmia, with neuroses and insomnia. Hawthorn strengthens blood flow in the vessels of the heart and brain, improves physical activity and enhances mental activity.
