Pose Romberg: photo. Imbalance in the Romberg pose
Almost everyone who visited a neurologist at the clinic underwent a test for Romberg's pose, but why it is done - very few doctors explain, while using medical terminology, intelligibly and simply without even trying to talk.
What is a test?
Inability to be steady, steady and not staggering to stand with a straight spine and closed eyes is called Romberg's symptom or pose, it is unstable for those who have problems with the nervous system.
The legs should be tightly pushed in the foot, the spine is stretched up, the shoulders and chest are open, and the straight arms are stretched out in front of him, the brushes are located no lower than the line of the shoulder joints.
With closed eyes, some people can not maintain a stable position: they begin to swing, hands may start to shake, there may be a sense of throwing back. In some cases, instability in the Romberg position is additionally checked, suggesting that the test person put one foot in front of the other so that the heel in front of the standing leg touches the toes of the foot behind.
There are also variants of setting stops, and also when the patient is asked to make a tilt forward with the eyes closed and straighten back. If the vibrations of the body become even more obvious, then the central nervous system is affected.
Why is the pose so called?
Moritz Heinrich Romberg( 1795 - 1873) - a professor at the University of Berlin, specialized in internal medicine, was very actively published in journals on neurological diseases and was an extremely popular teacher.
In 1840, wrote and published a book on neuropathology, which for a long time was used as a classic textbook, and the author himself is considered the founder of neuropathology.
If the posture is unstable: what does it mean?
Immediately make sure that the entire procedure is carried out in a calm environment, without external stimuli and if there is a staggering in the Romberg position, loss of orientation in space or even a drop in a short period of time( less than eight seconds), then you need to sound an alarm: along with untrained vestibularthe apparatus most likely damaged the posterior nerve roots of the spine, which are responsible for the conductivity of nerve impulses, possibly a disease with diffuse atherosclerosis( especially if the preservation of the posture is impossiblebut even with your eyes open), though perhaps this is just a tendency to neurasthenia, neurosis and inability to control bodily functions.
If the cerebellum is affected, the patient will deviate to the side of the affected side, because the cerebellum is responsible for the coordination of movements that a person comprehends as a child. If Romberg's posture is held, but not for long, then, most likely, there is only a tendency to atrophy of skeletal muscles: this is fixable if you practice this position every day until you get a stable result.
What is the benefit of Romberg's pose? Why do it?
The human body is so arranged that if one system fails, the rest "sprinkles".The most important system of man is, of course, nervous, along with the spine, along which the most important "transmission line" passes. While a person actively and diversely uses the fine muscles of the whole body, his nervous system works reliably, but if the passive and sedentary lifestyle wins common sense, then the health problems begin: immediately insignificant in the form of headache or chronic fatigue, but over time the problem of deterioratinghealth will grow like a snowball, and one day will result in a serious illness.
If you try to regularly perform the Romberg pose, the body, learning to stretch and adjust the balance in space, will use various and diverse neural chains, thus supporting the central nervous system in a healthy state.
Yogic version of
In the arsenal of yoga postures there is a similar position: Tadasana is a pose of the mountain, in some schools of yoga it is called Samastichi, which means "stand still and calm".This is the basic position from which the activity begins, a test of the stability of the mind and the reaction of the body to it. Some newcomers consider this pose to be uninteresting and insignificant because of its apparent simplicity, and only over the years it is understood to be its real taste and importance, because yoga is not a beautiful or spectacular body position, like the leg behind your head, but the ability to keep your mind in check( "Judge", the word from which the term "yoga" in translation from Sanskrit means bridle, harness), remaining even and calm in any situation.
How to achieve sustainability?
Every day for at least five minutes try to practice this position, having previously checked the correctness of the construction of the Romberg pose with the photo mentioned above. It is very convenient to do this in front of the mirror, sitting sideways to it, to make sure of a straight line of the spine and the correct position of the hands. The feet touch the inner line, the knees are close to each other, but not squeezed with effort, the hips in a light tonus and the line of the cob is slightly tucked under the belly. Shoulder joints are open, and the shoulder blades are slightly shifted towards each other.
You should try to stretch the crown of the head up, holding the spine with one straight line. To pay more attention to the inner tone in the pelvic region: it is from there that the stability of the entire position takes place, while the posture should not be unnecessarily tense and compressed like a spring, it is rather an easy concentration and concentration.
First, perhaps, the pose will be difficult to give and there will be no prolonged fixation, or the body will swing or tremble in some areas, but as you get accustomed and experience, everything will necessarily happen!
