Injections at home by the households are not the best way to treat a child. Each medical manipulation, accompanied by damage to the skin( which, of course, includes intramuscular injections) should be performed by a medical professional and subject to strict conditions and rules.
Before taking any injections for children, remember - any form of self-medication is fraught with complications and troubles, especially with regard to self-prescribed nyxes. Community-acquired injection can easily lead to severe purulent inflammation( abscess).Whatever the condition of the child, always first of all ask for medical help. Only with the approval and permission of the doctor, mom or dad can do the injections themselves.

Preparation: cleanliness and peace of mind
First of all, one should remember about sterility, ideal purity. Also the success of manipulation largely depends on the emotional background and complete tranquility. Do not under any circumstances do the procedure for preparing the syringe in front of the child!
Place the syringe, ampoule, cotton wool and a bottle of alcohol on a clean table, preliminarily placing a new napkin( suitable for paper).Wash your hands thoroughly, dry( preferably just in the air or with a fresh clean towel), even at home, it is better to use medical gloves, because you need to do the injections in the strictest purity. Open the package with a syringe, put on the needle( without removing the protective case from it), put the syringe in the package and put it back on the table. The ampoule must be accurately sawed and broken, after which, having removed the case from the needle, draw the medicine into the syringe. Place the syringe with the needle vertically upwards and gently press all the air on the piston gently. Do not forget to prepare a cotton swab with alcohol.
Distract the child with the game
Many experienced parents will say: "We make injections to children during the game."Indeed, home injections can be turned into a "hospital for animals", inviting the baby himself to inject his toys( of course, not a real needle).Distract the kid, think up a reward for patience. And most importantly - do not scare children with pricks, this pre-sets them up for fear and crying.
Do not panic! Doing a shot
The buttock should be mentally divided into four equal squares: the prick must be made in the upper outer. This is extremely important, since if the needle enters the internal areas - it is easy to damage the sciatic nerve. Set the place several times with a good rub with alcohol. With one quick and sure movement, insert the needle. Slow piercing is extremely painful. Then smoothly, slowly enter the medicine. Usually, closer to the end of the injection the pain intensifies, as the medicine stretches the muscles. Unfortunately, many medications( especially antibiotics) are extremely painful in themselves. At the end, press the injection site with alcohol impregnated cotton and quickly remove the needle. Leave the cotton for 1-2 minutes. You can gently massage the injection site or apply a heating pad( previously wearing underwear).If severe swelling and redness occur at the injection site, and the child complains of severe permanent pain, you should see a doctor.
