How is dyshidrotic eczema diagnosed and treated?
Many people who consult a doctor with a rash and skin pruritus diagnose dyshidrotic eczema. This is a chronic disease, which is accompanied by very characteristic skin lesions. Interestingly, the most common rash appears on the skin of the hands and feet.
Causes of dyshidrotic eczema
Modern medicine knows many causes of the development of such a disease. In particular, this type of dermatosis is often of an allergic origin. And in the role of an allergen can act different substances - cosmetics, household chemicals, etc. Often such a problem affects people who are constantly in contact with chemically aggressive means, for example, workers in industries, laboratories.
In addition, dyshidrotic eczema is often found in patients who have experienced emotional trauma or have been in a stressful state for a long time. Certainly, disturbances in the work of the nervous system or mental overexertion can lead to the appearance of characteristic skin lesions. On the other hand, the risk factors include excessive sweating, as well as certain diseases of the endocrine system, which are associated with a violation of the hormonal background.
What symptoms accompany dyshidrotic eczema?
As a rule, at the first stages there is quite a strong itch and only then the patients notice the first elements of the rash. It should be noted that the rashes with this type of eczema are quite typical - they look like small bubbles filled with a clear liquid.
After a few days, the vesicles begin to crack, resulting in their contents falling on the skin surface - this only increases itching and significantly worsens the person's well-being. Moreover, at the site of the rash, cracks and tissue erosion sites are formed. In the future, the wounds on the skin are covered with dry crusts of yellowish, and sometimes brown. Symptoms of the disease include redness and flaking of the skin, a gradual thickening of the surface tissues.
Immediately it is worth noting that it is only the doctor who can correctly diagnose the dyshidrotic eczema. Therefore at the first symptoms it is necessary to address immediately to the dermatologist.
Eczema dysgidrotic: how to treat?
Getting rid of the disease is extremely difficult. Nevertheless, modern methods of medicine help to relieve a person's condition during an exacerbation, and also to prolong the period of remission. As already mentioned, most often there is a dyshidrotic eczema of brushes. Treatment is determined individually and depends on the severity of the disease, and on the characteristics of the patient's body.
To begin with, doctors prescribe the reception of antihistamines, for example, "Suprastin" or "Tavegila", as it helps to soothe the itching and slow the further development of an allergic reaction. If the exacerbation is caused by stress, then it will be advisable to use soft sedatives, in particular tinctures of motherwort or valerian.
In some cases, the skin is treated with special hormonal ointments that quickly relieve inflammation. Useful will be a bath with a decoction of chamomile, as well as compresses with a solution of Burov - this will help prevent secondary infection of the skin and, accordingly, suppuration. Important is a hypoallergenic diet, refusal from smoking and drinking alcohol.
For the treatment of eczema to date, cryotherapy, laser therapy, ultraphonophoresis and some other hardware procedures are also used.
