Candidiasis is an infection of fungal origin, the causative agent of which are pathogenic yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida. This species is included in the list of normal microflora of the mucous membranes of the human body, but with a decrease in immunity the number of fungi rapidly increases, and so-called colonies are formed. Thrush in children affects almost all the mucous membranes of the body. The first signs of the disease is the appearance of a white coating on the mucous membranes. Thrush in children most often affects the oral mucosa, the so-called oral candidiasis.

Symptoms and causes of

Thrush in children in mild form is characterized by the presence of a small size of curdled grains located locally in some areas of the oral mucosa, most often on the surface of the tongue, sometimes on the inside of the cheeks. This film is removed quite easily. With a mild form of candidiasis, no other symptoms are observed. With an average form of the disease, a filmy or curdy plaque covers most of the oral cavity and has a red, hyperemic base. When removed, very often the base of the affected mucosa bleeds. For the severe form of the disease, a lesion with a filmy coating of almost the whole oral mucosa is characteristic. Remove plaque with severe form is practically not possible, only a small amount is removed, whitish film remains on the mucosa.

There are a lot of causes of this disease, but the most frequent is the presence of candidiasis in the mother, a decrease in immunity, the appearance of pathogenic microflora. In newborn children, the birth injury of the central nervous system and the presence of respiratory distress syndrome may cause candidiasis. When the first signs of thrush appear in children, it is very important to establish the cause of the onset of the disease, since very often candidiasis acquires a chronic form of the flow, and it will be much harder to cure. If you suspect a child's candidiasis should immediately contact the pediatrician and start treatment as early as possible.

Quite often thrush in children is accompanied by the presence of any concomitant disease.
